2019 Fall Interior Design Trends

HHC Living Portfolio

While we love highlighting interior design trends at the start of each year, there’s something about the crisp new feeling of Fall that has us checking back in on the latest trends. Grab a PSL and check out our 2019 Autumn Interior Design Trends.

Plants & Nature

While plants have been popular all year long, they’ll be popping up even more as we turn the calendar to September. Not only aesthetically pleasing and very worthy of the ‘gram, plants offer health benefits including air quality and energy. Another excellent feature is that nature truly works in any design space and any room. Whether you’re sprucing up a modern master bedroom or a cozy country kitchen, plants simply work. Be sure to take into account any safety precautions for kiddos or pets but otherwise this is a no-fail design boost. Fake or real is acceptable, hang them from your ceiling or place them on tables, and you’ll feel like you’ve got a slice of paradise even as temperatures begin to shift.

Cozy & Calm

As we settle into this new season, we’re offered a happy respite from the adventures of Summer. Cozy interiors like throw blankets, pumpkin scented candles, plush pillows, and lightly rustic decor all team together to create an inviting space. Calm is a major theme overall with Americans seeking a sanctuary to recharge in after long days at the office and the never-ending access to social media. High thread count sheets, luxurious bath towels, and simple, nearly hotel like, design is at the forefront for bedrooms everywhere.

Bold Bathtubs

Speaking of relaxation, another Fall 2019 trend is featuring one’s bath tub. As opposed to designs of years gone by where the tub was tucked away behind a sliding shower door or curtain and was not exactly what you wanted to feature to guests, the bathtub is back and better than ever. We’re seeing beautifully design bathrooms using a grandiose tub as a focal point for the whole room. New plumbing features allow for water to seemingly pour in from the ceiling or have centered handles, as opposed to the traditional end positioning. Bath accessories like a wooden tray perfect for holding books, or luscious bubble bath, along with scented candles are all a must for the full on spa experience. Consider your bathtub your autumn destination.

Pumpkin Everything

Does it even have to be said? Pumpkins are all the rage come autumn and we’ll see pumpkin shaped everything pop up in decor and design all over. Pumpkin shaped bowls, a festive door mat, or kitchen tabletop options are all cheerful, inexpensive ways to usher in the season. Real ones look lovely adorning the front porch or walkway to your home. If pumpkins aren’t your thing, fall foliage, shades of mustard yellow and deep reds, or skipping straight to Halloween decorations will work just fine, too.

What design trends are you excited about this fall? Tell us in the comments and as always, thanks for being a part of the HHC Living family!
